04 — OUR SOLUTION

One core mechanism. It doesn't change from one industry to the next.

Every version of this system — MedAuth included — is built on the same idea: give each physical unit one live, cryptographic identity, and enforce its lifecycle instead of merely recording it. The system is additive. It sits on top of the track-and-trace or serialization infrastructure already in place in each sector — no rip-and-replace required.

    One token per unit

    At the point of manufacture, every dispensable or sellable unit is issued a single cryptographic token — not merely a printed serial number, but a live identity that carries state.

    A strict, enforced lifecycle

    The token moves through a defined sequence of custody states. Each legitimate handoff advances it. Presenting it out of sequence, twice, or at the wrong location is caught immediately — not reconciled later.

    First scan wins, permanently

    The first legitimate scan at each gate consumes that step. Any later presentation of the same token — anywhere, by anyone — is flagged instantly as a duplicate, rather than discovered on a later audit.

    A terminal "consumed" state

    At the point of final sale or dispensing, the token closes permanently. There is no valid way to present it again — closing the reuse loophole most track-and-trace systems leave open by design.

    Economic self-defeat

    Cloning a token only works once. The moment both the clone and the genuine unit are presented, both are flagged. Every successful counterfeit sale therefore destroys the value of a genuine unit the counterfeiter had to obtain in the first place — turning scale into a liability.

    A visual check for what the token cannot see — applied selectively

    An independent image match against the manufacturer's reference catches genuine packaging wrapped around the wrong contents. This layer is used where packaging and contents can meaningfully diverge (pharma, cosmetics, spirits, and similar categories). It is not relied on for categories such as electronic components or auto parts, where the token lifecycle and economic self-defeat carry the greater share of protection.

MedAuth is designed as an additive layer. It consumes existing DSCSA / EPCIS 2.0 events (real-time or batch) and sits on top of the systems manufacturers already run — no rip-and-replace required.

The first live pilot covers both channels of the pharmacy trade — brick-and-mortar and online — the highest-stakes, most tightly regulated environment we work in, and the proving ground for every sector that follows it.
